In a step towards strengthening women-led micro-enterprises, the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) joined hands with the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC) to host a dynamic Special Women Empowerment Program under the RAMP initiative in Panchgaon, Kolhapur.
Spanning two impactful days, the program brought together over 90 participants, with the first session on August 4, 2025, dedicated to refining craftsmanship in the imitation jewellery industry. Expert trainer Yasmin guided 49 women through modern techniques and fresh design concepts, enabling them to add contemporary appeal to traditional artistry. The hands-on approach not only sharpened technical skills but also encouraged innovation in line with market trends.
The second day, held on August 5, shifted focus from creative skills to business sustainability. Led by Ashutosh Patil, the Financial and Digital Literacy Workshop engaged 50 participants in discussions on practical tools for growth—covering budgeting, digital resources, financial planning, and access to government-backed loan schemes.
By combining design innovation with entrepreneurial training, the initiative addressed two of the biggest challenges women artisans face: the need for modernized skill sets and improved access to financial opportunities. More than just a workshop series, it created a bridge between traditional craft and the demands of today’s competitive marketplace.
Through such targeted programs, GJSCI continues its mission of empowering artisan communities—equipping them with both the artistry and the business acumen needed for self-reliance and long-term success.
