

The India Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX), Dubai, recently hosted H.E. Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to the United Arab Emirates, for a visit focused on assessing India’s growing strength in jewellery exports and global market integration.
During his walkthrough of IJEX, the Ambassador interacted with Indian exporters, closely reviewing collections on display. He appreciated the level of design maturity, product innovation, and craftsmanship showcased, noting India’s increasing capability to serve international markets from a strategic base like Dubai.
Dr. Mittal also participated in a focused interaction with leading jewellery retailers and manufacturers operating in the region, including names such as Jawhara, Tanishq, Damas, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Bhima, and others. Discussions centred on the evolving jewellery ecosystem in the UAE and the expanding trade relationship between India and the region, with Dubai emerging as a key global gateway for gems and jewellery.
The dialogue underscored the importance of collaboration between Indian manufacturers and Middle East retailers, as well as the role of policy and infrastructure in supporting cross-border trade. Dubai’s position as a logistics, trading, and retail hub was highlighted as a critical advantage for Indian exporters seeking international growth.
The Ambassador also acknowledged the efforts of GJEPC in developing IJEX as a global-standard trade platform. He recognised its role in supporting Indian MSMEs, facilitating market access, and strengthening India’s presence in international jewellery markets.
