The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has amended the Handbook of Procedures 2023, adding Ahmedabad Airport as an authorised route for carrying gems and jewellery parcels by hand. The update takes effect immediately and expands the network of airports available to the industry, easing movement for both import and export.
Under the revised Paras 4.87(a) and 4.88, export parcels from EOU, SEZ and DTA units can now be personally carried by passengers travelling abroad via Ahmedabad, joining the list of major airports already permitted across the country. All existing export realisation rules and Customs protocols continue to apply.
Inbound movement has also been streamlined. Indian importers and foreign nationals may now bring in parcels through Ahmedabad using the same clearance procedure followed for air freight consignments, including mandatory Customs examination at the airport.
