The one-day event, held under the theme “Gemstone is the New Gold,” drew remarkable industry participation and enthusiasm, uniting gemstone traders, jewellers, artisans, exhibitors, and buyers in celebration of Jaipur’s enduring legacy as a global gemstone capital.

The opening ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr Sudhir Kasliwal, a distinguished jeweller and respected figure within the industry, alongside Jewellers Association President Shri Alok Sonkhiya, Hon. Secretary Shri Neeraj Lunawat, Convenor JAGS Shri Abhishek Sand, past presidents, and members of the Jewellers Association. The inauguration began with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and traditional lamp-lighting, followed by the launch of the official poster and show guide for JAGS 2025 — marking the formal commencement of the much-anticipated rough and cut gemstone showcase.

In his address, Shri Alok Sonkhiya, President of the Jewellers Association, extended his best wishes to all buyers and exhibitors, expressing confidence in fruitful business engagements throughout the show.

Jewellers Association Jaipur’s Honorary Secretary, Shri Neeraj Lunawat, welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, and exhibitors, highlighting the Association’s sustained contribution to the industry through initiatives such as the Janopyogi Bhawan and the Youth Wing of JA, designed to empower the next generation of jewellers. He also emphasised the expanded scale of this year’s show, which featured 166 booths and showcased over 500 varieties of natural gemstones, reflecting Jaipur’s leadership in coloured gemstone craftsmanship.

A major highlight of the day was the launch of the new KYC Scheme, an initiative designed to serve as a centralised repository of verified information for traders, brokers, and other stakeholders. The scheme aims to foster transparency and accountability across the gemstone trade. Mr Alok Sonkhiya unveiled the KYC form, describing it as a forward-looking step towards building a structured and reliable database for future generations.

Mr Abhishek Sand, Convenor of JAGS, presented the official brand campaign film, which traced the evolution of Jaipur’s gemstone trade — from the traditional markets of Johri Bazaar, Pahadganj, Gandi Gali, and Nawabganj to the contemporary hubs of Sitapura. The film also showcased the growing influence of digital media, bloggers, and global collaborations in expanding the show’s international reach.

Delivering the keynote address, Chief Guest Mr Sudhir Kasliwal lauded Jaipur’s unparalleled contribution to India’s coloured gemstone heritage. He noted that garnet was the first coloured stone to be cut and polished in Jaipur, followed by emeralds, which went on to become synonymous with the city’s identity.

Following the ceremony, the Chief Guest toured the exhibition, visiting the Rough Stones Hall and two Cut Stones Halls, engaging with exhibitors, and commending the craftsmanship and diversity on display. The wide range of gemstones presented by Jaipur’s leading gemstone houses underscored the city’s unmatched artistry and technical expertise.

The 28th Edition of JAGS concluded on a note of renewed energy and optimism. As the country’s only dedicated gemstone show, it attracted an impressive turnout of both national and international buyers. The strong participation reaffirmed JAGS’s position as a trusted B2B platform and a vital force in promoting India’s natural gemstone trade.

With its continued expansion, international visibility, and focus on authenticity and craftsmanship, JAGS strengthens India’s stature within the global gem trade landscape.
