Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) has inaugurated a new flagship showroom on Anna Salai, Chennai, marking a significant step in its 125-year legacy. Positioned next to its original store, the new space strengthens the brand’s deep-rooted connection with the city while introducing a more contemporary retail format.
Spread across 14,000 sq. ft., the showroom is designed as a multi-level experience, each floor catering to a distinct category. The ground level features gold, precious, and jadau jewellery in an open, easy-to-navigate layout. The first floor is dedicated to diamonds, solitaires, and platinum collections, offering a more focused and considered buying environment.
A highlight of the new space is Atelier VBJ on the second floor—an elevated concept that shifts away from traditional retail. With private lounges, curated displays, and personalised consultations, it offers a quieter, more immersive way to explore jewellery. Only select pieces are showcased, while the broader collection is available on request, encouraging a more tailored experience.
According to Managing Partner Amarendran Vummidi, the store has been thoughtfully designed to balance VBJ’s heritage with modern expectations, ensuring each level feels distinct yet cohesive. Managing Partner Jithendra Vummidi further emphasised the intent to create a comprehensive journey that caters to both everyday and milestone purchases.
Looking ahead, VBJ is set to expand further across Tamil Nadu and Telangana, with upcoming stores planned in cities like Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, and Hyderabad, alongside a stronger footprint within Chennai. Internationally, the brand is also growing its presence in the United States, with new locations planned beyond Texas, including Milpitas, California.
A fifth-generation family business, VBJ continues to honour its legacy—most notably as the creator of the historic Sengol—while evolving its offerings. From heirloom bridal pieces to contemporary collections like Florals and Avatara, the brand remains focused on craftsmanship, storytelling, and design innovation.
