Joyalukkas has secured two Guinness World Records titles with a pair of handcrafted 22K gold jhumkas weighing a combined net 16.514 kgs. Unveiled on 24 October at Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas in Dubai Gold District, the creation holds the records for the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings.

H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, unveiled the earrings, while an official Guinness World Records adjudicator presented the certificates to Dr. Joy Alukkas, Chairman of Joyalukkas Group, and John Paul Alukkas, CEO of Joyalukkas Jewellery. The ceremony was attended by industry representatives and other dignitaries.

Titled Mayura Sahasra, meaning “A Thousand Peacocks”, the jhumkas draw on the peacock's symbolism in Indian culture, translating its plumage into an elaborate gold design. Crafted by Joyalukkas' master artisans over several months, the pair weighs more than five times the previous record for the heaviest pair of gold earrings, according to the company.

From craftsmanship to a public landmark

Rather than entering the retail inventory, the earrings will be preserved as a complete pair and displayed permanently at Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas. The showroom, located in Dubai Gold District, is open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

“For nearly four decades, Joyalukkas has grown alongside Dubai, the City of Gold. These earrings are our tribute to this city and to the artisans whose hands turned an impossible idea into gold. Two Guinness World Records titles in one creation is a proud moment for our family, our teams in 13 countries, and every customer who has trusted us for decades. We are honoured that His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri unveiled them, and we dedicate this achievement to the UAE,” says Dr. Joy Alukkas, Chairman, Joyalukkas Group.

Jewel of Joy was built to be the biggest jewellery destination in the Middle East, and today it becomes home to the heaviest and largest pair of gold earrings in the world. This is not a piece for sale—it is a landmark. We invite residents, tourists and jewellery lovers from everywhere to visit Dubai Gold District, see the earrings for themselves, and experience the craftsmanship that defines Joyalukkas.

The business behind the record

Joyalukkas operates more than 200 showrooms across 13 countries, including India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the US, Australia and Canada. The record-setting creation adds a public-facing attraction to its Dubai flagship, positioning traditional gold craftsmanship as both a cultural statement and a draw for jewellery enthusiasts.

For the group, Mayura Sahasra is more than a record-setting pair of earrings: it is a showcase of artisanal capability housed within one of the region's largest jewellery retail destinations.
