The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is preparing to welcome students to its new London campus, with enrolment now open for courses commencing in August 2026. Situated in the heart of Canary Wharf, the purpose-built facility marks a significant investment in the institute’s educational presence in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Positioned within one of London’s leading financial and luxury retail districts, the new GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry Arts campus has been designed to provide students with greater access to industry opportunities while expanding the institute’s teaching capacity. The move also enables GIA to introduce its Jewelry Design & Technology programme in London for the first time, broadening the range of professional training available to aspiring jewellery designers and gemmologists.
Pritesh Patel, President and Chief Executive Officer of GIA, said the new campus reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to making gem and jewellery education more accessible to students around the world.
“By expanding our educational footprint in London, we are strengthening our ability to support the global gem and jewellery community with world-class training and resources,” Patel noted.
The Canary Wharf location places students within close reach of major transport links, international businesses and a thriving luxury retail environment. According to GIA, the setting will provide valuable exposure to contemporary jewellery merchandising, consumer trends and the broader luxury marketplace.
Mehdi Saadian, Education Director for GIA U.K., highlighted the advantages of the new facility, describing it as a modern learning environment designed to enhance the student experience while placing learners at the centre of a dynamic commercial district.
GIA’s London operations date back to 2002 and have attracted students from more than 50 countries over the years. The institution continues to offer specialised education in gemmology and jewellery design, serving a diverse international student body. The school maintains accreditation from both the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
With its relocation to Canary Wharf, GIA is positioning its London campus for future growth while reinforcing the city’s role as a key destination for gem and jewellery education.
