Douglas Hucker has stepped down from his role as CEO of the International Coloured Gemstone Association, concluding his tenure on April 22. The New York-based organisation acknowledged his departure the following day, recognising his contribution during a transformative period for the coloured gemstone sector.
Over nearly four years at the helm, Hucker guided the association through post-pandemic recovery and evolving global market dynamics. His leadership period was marked by efforts to stabilise and strengthen the organisation amid industry-wide uncertainty.
Reflecting on his tenure, Hucker described his time with the ICA as deeply rewarding, highlighting the collaborative spirit of its board, members, and international community. He expressed confidence in the association’s continued growth and future direction.
Before joining ICA, Hucker spent close to 25 years leading the American Gem Trade Association and earlier held roles at the Gemological Institute of America, bringing decades of industry expertise to the position.
ICA President Damien Cody acknowledged Hucker’s impact, noting that his leadership helped reinforce the organisation’s foundation during a crucial phase. The association is expected to announce his successor in the near future.
