Bonhams has appointed Stewart Young as Director of Jewellery and Head of Jewellery, Asia, marking a strategic move to further build its regional presence. Based in Hong Kong, he will oversee the jewellery division across Asia, managing sourcing, sales strategy, and overall operations.
In his new role, Young will also collaborate with Bonhams’ global jewellery team to enhance visibility and performance of sales within the region. He steps into the position alongside Leslie Roskind, who will transition to a new role in New York after leading the department over the past two years.
Young brings over a decade of experience in the auction world, having previously held roles at Sotheby’s and Tiancheng International. His career later expanded into independent jewellery design, reflecting a broader creative perspective within the industry.
Before entering the jewellery space, he built an international career in costume design for film, television, and stage, adding a unique dimension to his understanding of aesthetics and craftsmanship. Raised between Hong Kong and Canada, Young is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and is a certified graduate gemologist.
His appointment signals Bonhams’ continued focus on strengthening its expertise and market position across Asia, as the region remains a key driver for jewellery sales and collector engagement.
