FURA Gems has achieved certification from the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), marking a significant step in its commitment to ethical and responsible business practices. The recognition follows a detailed independent audit evaluating the company’s operations against the RJC Code of Practices—widely regarded as a global standard for integrity within the jewellery industry.

The certification spans critical areas such as corporate governance, human rights, labour policies, environmental responsibility, and supply chain due diligence. The RJC framework aligns with internationally respected guidelines, including the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and IFC Performance Standards.

Donald Bray, Chief Sustainability Officer at FURA Gems, highlighted the milestone as a reflection of the company’s strengthened systems, improved oversight, and ongoing efforts toward transparency and traceability.

Notably, the RJC has recognised FURA Gems as the first company in the coloured gemstone sector to receive this certification. Purvi Shah, Executive Director at the RJC, emphasised that the achievement signals strong leadership and sets a new precedent for responsible practices within the industry.

With mining operations in Australia and Mozambique, FURA Gems supplies ethically sourced rubies and sapphires to global markets. The company has also embraced advanced traceability measures, including blockchain-backed tracking systems, to meet evolving expectations around responsible sourcing.
