IIGJ Lab (a GJEPC project) upgrades its Emerald Identification Service to meet global standards.
IIGJ Lab has made changes to the Emerald Identification Service to align with global standards. The updated service is applicable only for single stone certification, and is divided into two parts, as given below.
Primary Service
Primary Service is to identify and report presence or absence of clarity enhancement, as applicable. The report will also include extent of the filler material i.e., minor, moderate or significant.
Advance Service
The Advance Service report will mention if clarity enhancement is detected, assessment of the extent and the type of filler material, such as oil or resin.
Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC said, “Jaipur stands as a vital hub for emerald imports, cutting, polishing, and exports, integral to India’s gemstone industry. With this enhanced Emerald Identification Service, aligned with global standards, we are empowering the colour stone sector to confidently present and trade their stones. GJEPC is committed to continuously investing in our lab infrastructure and expanding capacity, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of the industry with the highest quality and credibility.”
The Primary Service includes checking for the presence or absence of clarity enhancement and assessing the extent of filler material, which is reported as Insignificant, F1 (Minor), F2 (Moderate), or F3 (Significant), as applicable. The fee for this service is ₹1,300 for GJEPC members and ₹1,600 for non-members (inclusive of GST).
The Advance Service provides a more detailed analysis, covering the presence or absence of clarity enhancement, the extent of filler material, and the type of filler material used—whether oil or resin. The findings indicate the extent of clarity enhancement using the same grading scale: Insignificant, F1 (Minor), F2 (Moderate), or F3 (Significant). The fee for this service is ₹1,800 for GJEPC members and ₹2,100 for non-members (inclusive of GST).
