Fifteen years after husband-and-wife team, Yves Spinelli and Dwyer Kilcollin, founded their fine jewellery brand in a garage in East Los Angeles, Spinelli Kilcollin has opened the doors to a permanent home in London’s Mayfair. The move marks a significant milestone for a brand that began with hand-made Galaxy rings and has since grown into a globally recognised name in contemporary fine jewellery.
“In 2010, we wanted to work for ourselves and establish a jewellery brand that always stayed true to our values of intentional design, integrity, and high quality,” recalls Spinelli, co-founder and designer. The first collections centred on the linked Galaxy Ring, a distinctive construction that “took people years to notice.” As the brand evolved, so did its repertoire. “Looking back at inflection points,” Spinelli notes, “we see that adhering to our original values has shaped our brand and allowed us to have fun experimenting as we grow.”
London, explains the designer, has long held meaning for the brand: “culturally curious, style-forward, and deeply attuned to craft.” After establishing long-term flagships in New York and Los Angeles, opening a permanent home in London felt like the natural next step, he adds. And Mayfair, in particular, offered the right tempo. “Mayfair allows us to slow the conversation down: to offer private appointments, bespoke work and a fully immersive expression of the brand that wholesale or pop-ups could never fully support.”
The relationship with London dates back to 2014, when Spinelli Kilcollin debuted at Dover Street Market (DSM). That introduction revealed a distinctive customer base. “DSM introduced us to a London customer who was thoughtful, fearless and deeply personal in how they wore jewellery.” Over time, certain values became clear. “Our customers valued intention, brand integrity and design innovation; this has been very inspiring for us.” The Mayfair store reflects those learnings and has been thus designed as “a space that invites lingering, conversation and customisation rather than quick discovery.”
The building itself presented a new set of creative parameters. “Working within a historic building required a lighter touch; one rooted in respect rather than transformation,” Spinelli reflects. The founders allowed the structure to inform their approach. “Instead of imposing a concept, we allowed the space to guide us, layering contemporary forms against original architectural details.” Sculptural wall and floor elements subtly echo their signature linked-ring language, “but in a quieter, more textural way — reinforcing that contrast between structure and softness that defines Spinelli Kilcollin.”
“Selecting jewellery is a personal and meaningful experience,” Spinelli notes. These services are offered across all flagships, yet the Mayfair setting enhances their intimacy and fosters a different rhythm. “Our space in London is comfortable and private, allowing us to work more closely with our clients. They can customise pieces and collaborate with our jewellery, which is increasingly important to luxury clients each year.”
“The Mayfair store represents our confidence as a brand fully grounded in its identity while remaining open to evolution,” Spinelli says, noting that the opening coincides with the brand’s fifteenth anniversary. Expansion is also afoot this side of the pond. “This year, we’re expanding our Los Angeles store into an experiential creative space.” The move, he informs, is inspired by “thoughtfully considering cities around the world that share similar cultural richness and already have ardent Spinelli Kilcollin fans.”
New designs accompanied the London debut: gemstone-linked designs introduced a new layer of colour and emotion to the collection, and were launched in both London and the US this season. Featuring blue sapphires and emeralds, the linked silhouettes add “depth and vibrancy” to the core designs.
The bridal line, which continues to expand “in a way that feels true to Spinelli Kilcollin,” leans on unconventional silhouettes, modular bands and stones that “feel expressive rather than traditional.” The brand, meanwhile, is focussed on “exploring bridal as an extension of self, not a departure from it.” Across collections, the emphasis at Spinelli Kilcollin remains constant — “versatility, movement, and pieces that feel deeply personal, designed to be worn every day, in your own way.”
