Bonhams has appointed jewellery specialist Janet Lam as its new Head of Jewellery, Asia, with the role taking effect immediately.

Operating from Hong Kong, Lam will lead the auction house's jewellery activities across the region, focusing on business expansion, strategic partnerships and strengthening relationships with collectors and clients throughout Asia.

In her new position, she will work closely with the global jewellery leadership team to support sales growth and develop opportunities across both auctions and private transactions.

Lam brings more than 17 years of experience within the international jewellery market, having built her career across auction houses, private client advisory and the high jewellery sector.

Most recently, she held a senior specialist position overseeing jewellery sales and client development across Asia, where she played a key role in major auctions and cultivated relationships with some of the region's most significant collectors.

Her extensive network and market knowledge have provided access to important collections and private sale opportunities, while offering valuable insight into shifting collecting trends across Asian markets.

Earlier in her career, Lam also held senior positions within the auction industry and gained experience in the luxury jewellery sector, further strengthening her understanding of craftsmanship, collecting behaviour and regional consumer preferences. She is a Graduate Gemologist certified by GIA.

The appointment forms part of Bonhams' broader strategy to expand its presence within the global jewellery market and build on recent momentum across the category.

The company's jewellery division has continued to record strong performances internationally, supported by sustained demand for coloured gemstones, coloured diamonds, signed pieces from leading maisons and exceptional antique jewels.

As collector interest remains focused on rarity, provenance and craftsmanship, Asia continues to represent one of the most important growth markets for the global jewellery auction business.
