Kwon Ji-yong, a.k.a. G-Dragon boasts an impressive collection of jewellery and watches, some of which have been crafted by Jacob & Co. This time, the K-pop superstar has collaborated with the luxury brand on a bandana scarf encrusted with 209.71 carats of stones. According to the brand, the bespoke design is crafted as a “sculptural reinterpretation of G-Dragon’s signature bandana styling, the collar transforms the familiar silhouette into a statement of high-jewellery innovation.”
“G-Dragon has always embodied fearless creativity,” says Benjamin Arabov, CEO of Jacob & Co. The chunky haute couture bandana-scarf, rendered in polished 18k yellow gold, drapes in a stylish fit across the neck. The 559.3-gram gold accessory is fully pavé-set with vibrant gemstones, “echoing the artist’s eclectic visual universe and ever-evolving aesthetic.”
“This one-of-one creation reflects his world, which is bold, expressive, and constantly evolving. Crafting a piece for such an important moment in his artistic journey is an honour, and we’re excited to unveil this on one of the world's biggest stages,” the CEO adds in a statement.
An emblem of G-Dragon’s creative philosophy, a jewelled daisy serves as a knot on the scarf. Adding sparkle to the piece are melee stones — rubies, emeralds, blue sapphires, purple sapphires, pink sapphires, orange sapphires and Paraiba tourmalines, totalling 10.60 carats. Vibrant hues in the design are melded through 54.60 carats of slightly larger gems — emeralds, orange sapphires, pink sapphires, rubies, tsavorites, purple sapphire, Paraiba, red spinels, pink spinel, blue sapphire and yellow sapphires.
Last year, G Dragon teamed up with Jacob & Co. for one-of-a-kind Astronomia timepiece, along with a Peaceminusone jewellery collection centred around the G-Daisy motif.
This maximalist jewel proves once again that when G-Dragon and Jacob & Co. team up, subtlety simply isn’t on the playlist.
