Sotheby’s wrapped up its New York high jewelry auction on June 13 with total sales of $31.4 million

At the top of the sale was a Graff diamond ring featuring a 3.01-carat D-color, VVS2-clarity, type IIa emerald-cut center stone, flanked by two triangle-shaped diamonds. It was hammered down for $3.2 million, edging past its upper estimate.

The auction’s momentum carried through a lineup of exceptional gems and collectible pieces. A Marcus & Co. necklace with a 9.60-carat Burmese ruby, framed by old European-cut and calibré-cut diamonds and rubies, achieved $1.8 million. Another $1.8 million was paid for a vivid-blue 2.02-carat diamond ring in a modified rectangular mixed cut.

JAR made an appearance with a Colombian emerald ring weighing 8.62 carats, nestled in a diamond pavé setting. It surged past estimates to reach $1.6 million. A fancy-pink 5.02-carat diamond ring followed closely, changing hands for $1.5 million.

A standout sapphire ring featuring a 7.50-carat rectangular step-cut Kashmir sapphire with baguette diamond accents drew attention as it doubled its $700,000 estimate to bring in $1.4 million.

Among the unmounted stones, a pair of D-flawless, type IIa pear-shaped diamonds weighing just over 10 carats each sold for $1.3 million, while an unmounted emerald-cut 17.05-carat D-color diamond went for $889,000.

Also notable was a vivid-yellow 8.08-carat diamond ring flanked by tapered baguettes, which achieved $1.1 million, outpacing its projected high. Graff’s presence extended beyond the top lot—another piece from the house, a pair of earrings with sugarloaf cabochon Colombian emeralds and emerald-cut diamonds, fetched just over $900,000.

Works by iconic names like JAR, Harry Winston, and Boucheron added depth to the sale, making it one of the season’s most dynamic showings of high jewelry on the auction calendar.
