A remarkable gemstone known as the Ocean Dream diamond is set to headline an upcoming high jewellery auction by Christie's in Geneva, with expectations of reaching nearly $13 million.
Weighing 5.50 carats, the triangular-cut stone stands out for its rare fancy-vivid blue-green hue, a colour category considered among the most unusual in natural diamonds. Graded SI1 in clarity and classified as a Type IIa diamond, it belongs to a group known for exceptional purity. The stone is mounted in a ring, complemented by rock crystal detailing, alongside pink and white diamonds that enhance its visual depth.
Its origin traces back to Central Africa, where it was cut from an 11.70-carat rough. The diamond holds a unique distinction, having been recognised by the Gemological Institute of America as the largest vivid blue-green diamond it has ever examined.
This marks only the second time the Ocean Dream will be offered at auction. Its previous appearance was over a decade ago, after which it remained in a private collection. Beyond the auction circuit, the diamond has also been part of the prestigious “Splendor of Diamonds” exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution, further cementing its status in the world of exceptional gems.
With preview showcases planned across major cities including Bangkok and Hong Kong, the Ocean Dream is positioned as one of the standout highlights of the season’s global jewellery calendar.
