An exceptional showcase of rare gemstones and vintage craftsmanship is set to unfold as Bonhams presents its Exceptional Jewels & Jadeite sale in Hong Kong on 24 May 2026.
The 148-piece auction brings together an impressive mix of period jewellery and striking coloured gemstones, including rubies, Kashmir sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, and vivid coloured diamonds. The collection reflects both heritage design and remarkable gem quality, offering collectors access to pieces of significant rarity and artistry.
Among the standout lots is a refined emerald and diamond necklace from around 1950. Featuring seven step-cut Colombian emeralds with a combined weight of 50 carats, the piece is further enhanced by over 30 carats of vari-cut diamonds, embodying classic mid-century elegance.
Also drawing attention is a bold ring set with a 16.50-carat red spinel from Tanzania, framed by tapered baguette-cut diamonds. The piece highlights the growing appreciation for spinels among collectors.
According to Katy Lai, the sale is a vivid tribute to the richness of coloured gemstones, bringing together a diverse palette of rare stones and timeless designs. The auction is positioned as a key opportunity for collectors seeking distinctive, high-quality jewels with enduring appeal.
